1. Emma Watson bags first ever ‘genderless’ award at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards.

The event held in Los Angeles, California. This is the first ever genderless award that doesn’t separate nominees based on their sex.

2. According to IMF ,India to grow at 7.7 per cent in 2018-19 .

India's growth is expected to rebound to 7.2 percent in the 2017-18 fiscal and 7.7 percent in 2018-19 after disruptions caused by demonetization, as per the IMF (International Monetary Fund) report. According to the report, growth in Asia is forecast to accelerate to 5.5 percent in 2017 from 5.3 percent in 2016. Growth in China and Japan is revised upward for 2017 compared to the October 2016 World Economic Outlook.

3. First time Supreme Court has sent a high court judge to jail on charges of contempt.

A constitution bench (seven-judge) of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice ‘J S Khehar’ has sentenced, Justice C S Karnan (the Calcutta High Court judge) to six months of imprisonment for repeated incidents of contempt of court.

4. Maharashtra govt. bans sale of junk food in school canteens

The Maharashtra government has imposed a ban on the sale of junk food (like Potato chips, pizzas, burgers, cakes, biscuits, pastries) in school canteens across the state. It gave a list of 20 items that can be sold, which include wheat roti, vegetable pulao, idli-vada, coconut water and Jal Jira. Earlier, the task force has recommended to promote consumption of healthy food by children in schools and to ban the sale of junk food.

5. India has been unanimously elected as the President of UN-Habitat.

The UN-Habitat promotes socially and environmentally sustainable human settlements across the world. It is only the third time that India has been elected to lead this important organization after 2007 and 1988.

6. Edelweiss Tokio launched India's first and the simplest Poing of sale life insurance product.

It can be bought at a point of sale (PoS) has finally been launched. Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance has recently launched PoS Saral Nivesh the first product to be approved by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India's (IRDAI) guidelines on point of sale-life insurance products. PoS Saral Nivesh is a non-linked, non-participating endowment life insurance plan which offers both protection and saving.

7. Cisco Systems will work with Andhra Pradesh to make starting a small business easy.

ohn Chambers, Executive Chairman and former CEO of Cisco Systems gave a presentation to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his delegation currently on tour of the US, on how modern communications can connect the world and as an example demonstrated how he conducts meetings from his board room with his executives around the world.

9. Jhulan Goswami becomes world's highest wicket-taker in ODIs.

Indian women's team fast bowler Jhulan Goswami today became the highest wicket-taker in history of ODIs. She eclipsed the decade-long record in the name of Australian Cathryn Fitzpatrick. Jhulan Goswami dismissed South Africa's Raisibe Ntozakhe in an ongoing ODI to claim her 181st victim in the 50-over format, breaking Fitzpatrick's record of 180 wickets from 109 matches. Goswami had figures of 3/20 in 7.3 overs. Jhulan's feat has been achieved in her 153rd match. She made her debut way back in 2002. Jhulan was also adjudged ICC's 'Women Cricketer of the Year' in 2007.

10. Heena Sidhu wins bronze in Grand Prix of Liberation Plezn 2017 Shooting championship.

Heena Sindhu claimed a bronze medal in the women's 10m Air Pistol as India ended the Grand Prix of Liberation Plezn 2017 Shooting championships in Czech Republic with seven medals. On the final day of the championship, Heena shot 218.8 in the eight-woman final, won by Greek shooter Anna Korakaki claimed gold medal sot 246.3 to finish ahead of Germany's rising star, Michelle Skeries took silver with a score of 237.8.
